Trust Registration

If you have a Trustee of a Trust or have a Trust set up, you must now register this Trust regardless of whether there is tax liability.

If you have created a Trust in your Will, this does not need to be registered until you die.

There are a few exceptions to Trusts that need not be registered. For example if it is a Trust to hold money for a minor child until 18 or a vulnerable adult.

For any Trusts created on or before 6 October 2020, the deadline for registration is 1 September 2022.

Please note that not all Trusts are subject to any tax, but if you are unsure, this would be a good time to discuss what you have in place.
